Description

Mixxx is a free and open-source DJ mixing application available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It supports live mixing of digital music files with features such as BPM and key detection, Sync Lock, and four-deck mixing for seamless transitions.

Mixxx provides extensive hardware support including native mappings for MIDI and HID controllers, programmable via JavaScript, and Digital Vinyl System (DVS) control using time-coded vinyl or CDs to scratch and manipulate tracks as though they were pressed on vinyl.

The software offers advanced mixing tools like beat looping, hot-cues, beat rolls, effects chains, quantization, EQ and crossfader control, sampler decks, and Auto DJ playback to automate transitions when needed.

Mixxx’s music library is built around a high-performance database with features like crates, playlists, search, sort, BPM/key detection, and integration with external libraries such as iTunes and Traktor. It also supports recording to WAV, FLAC, or MP3 and live broadcasting via Shoutcast or Icecast.

Mixxx is entirely community-driven, licensed under GPL-2.0-or-later, and regularly updated by volunteer developers. The 2.5 release brought improvements like a Qt 6 interface, expanded controller and DVS support, better track management, low-latency audio, and enhanced time-stretching and keylock capabilities.
