Microsoft Teams
Description
Microsoft Teams is a collaboration platform that provides workspace chat, video conferencing, file storage, and integration with Microsoft 365 and third-party apps.
Teams emerged as a successor to Skype for Business and grew significantly during the pandemic; as of July 2023 it reached about 300 million monthly active users.
It supports messaging, group calls, screen sharing, and threaded conversations within channels and direct messages. Its integration with Office apps and OneDrive streamlines workflows in environments already using Office 365.
The platform runs on Windows (among other OS), offering reliable communication and seamless transitions between chat, calls, and document collaboration.
Microsoft continuously updates Teams, improving performance, adding features like Together Mode and Breakout Rooms, and integrating with Power BI, Trello, and other apps.
